LUARCA

Luarca is in the municipality of Valdes, in Asturias, Spain. Situated at an elevation of 110 m (360 ft) above sea level, it has a population of 5,354 (2008), and an area of 5.94 km² (2.29 sq mi). The village is 90 km (56 mi) from the capital, Oviedo. The Nobel laureate for medicine in 1959, Severo Ochoa, was born here.
